Safety & Support
Please read this first
The Four Friends is a practice companion — not therapy, medical care, or crisis support. If you are in crisis, having thoughts of harming yourself, or afraid for your safety, please reach for help right now. The practices in this app are gentle, but they are not a substitute for professional care or emergency services.
If you need help right now
If you're in immediate danger
Call your local emergency number (911 in North America) or go to the nearest emergency department.
If you're struggling and need to talk
Reach a crisis line in your region. In Canada: 9-8-8 (Suicide Crisis Helpline). In the US: 988. In the UK: 116 123 (Samaritans). You can also text HOME to 741741 to reach a crisis counselor by text.
How the companion fits
The Four Friends is designed for the everyday weather of being human — the rising feelings, the loud stories, the fog, the long roads. It can be a beautiful companion to therapy or other care. It is not designed to be used alone for acute crisis, trauma, or any situation where your safety is at risk.
Every practice page carries a gentle safety note where relevant. The Hard Weather Pathways include an explicit reminder to reach for your herd — real people, crisis lines, professionals — when the weather doesn't ease.
"If the weather does not ease, please reach for your herd. You are not meant to weather this alone."
