The short version

The Four Friends is a practice companion, not a data business. We collect only what we need to run your account and your practice — your email, your journal entries, your return plans, and your purchase record. Your reflections are private to you. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share your reflections with third parties.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address and an encrypted password, used to sign you in and verify your identity.
  • Your practice content: journal entries, return plans, and progress notes you create. These are tied to your account and only you can read them.
  • Purchase record: whether you have paid access (and, if you redeemed a code, which code). We store a reference to the transaction — never your card details.
  • Basic usage data: anonymous, aggregated analytics (such as which features are used) to help us improve the companion.

How payments work

Checkout and payment are handled by Stripe. Your card information is processed on Stripe’s secure infrastructure and never reaches our servers. We only receive confirmation of a successful purchase and a transaction reference so we can grant your access.

Who can see your data

Only you can read your journal entries and return plans. Site administrators can manage accounts and access codes but cannot open your reflections. We do not share, sell, or rent your personal information or practice content to anyone outside the small team that maintains this app.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we will remove your email, your journal entries, and your return plans. We may keep an anonymized purchase record for accounting purposes where required by law.

Your choices

  • Request a copy of your data at any time.
  • Ask us to correct anything that’s inaccurate.
  • Ask us to delete your account and your data.

To exercise any of these, contact the team through the address on this site and we’ll respond as soon as we can.

A note on scope

The Four Friends is a practice companion, not therapy or crisis care. Please don’t put yourself in danger by relying on it in an emergency — reach out to local emergency services or a crisis line instead.
